Hi there,

I was wondering if anybody has experience developing Fomapan 200 sheet film in Pyrocat-HD for alt processes, specifically pt/pd. I'd use the 2:2:100 dilution. Processing would be in tubes, i.e. constant agitation.

Mongo has provided some helpful information. He processes it for 9.5 min at 68° using normal agitation (5 secs/minute) but hasn't actually done any sheet film development using constant agitation. He recommends 8 minutes but instead of reinventing the wheel (i.e. potentially wasting a bunch of 8x10 film), I thought I'd ask the other experts out there.

The Freestyle version of this film is so cheap compared to other 8x10 film that this could be a real alternative to TMY for me if the good things I've heard about Fomapan 200 turn out to be true.

Thanks!!

Gerhard,

This is the film that I chose to start shooting 11x14 with because of the price.

I developed a few negatives the other night in Pyrocat-HD 2:2:100 @ 70deg

I'd have to check my notes but I think it was something like 6 or 6-1/2 min development time.

I haven't had that chance to print the negatives yet but they look really nice.

Jim,

Thank you for jumping in. I assume your negs were for alt processes or Azo, not for enlargements on silver gelatin paper?

Did you develop the negs in tubes or a Jobo?

Thanks again!

Gerhard,

My intent is to use the negatives for alt processes, beginning with Vandyke Brown. I don't now for sure yet how they will print with the alt processes and I might have to make some adjustments next time.

I am going to try and print them sometime this weekend.

I'll let you know how they turn out.
