Hi all. Somewhere on this site of all knowledge is a piece about the basics of resetting focus after disassembly. Can I find it! Can I !!!!!!! Anyone help? The lens in question is a Viv 135/2,8 which I bought for peanuts as it had an oil leak…blades nice and gooooooy. All done now and looks great, just need the above so I can go and play in the sunshine.

Take care all.

Did you disassemble the helical?
If it didn't start back on the same thread it probably won't focus correctly.
I just use a piece of ground glass held on the film rails & use a loupe to check focus.
Adjustment is usually readjusting the focusing scale once you have found infinity(3 screws on the distance scale).
If you're not getting infinity focus, you will have to unscrew the front assembly from the helical & restart it at another point. Remember, you have six or more start points on the helical threads. I would unscrew the assembly & advance one thread at a time 'til I hit inf. on the GG & then tighten everything down.

Hi John. Yep had to disassemble the helical to get at the blades. Used china graph to mark location and think? It all went back as was? Just like to be sure obviously. Thanks for the info, I’ll give it a go.
