Ladies and Gents,

From May 31st to June 30th of this year I'm going to be living in Florence Italy as part of a study abroad program through my school (I'll be studying Art History :D) Anyway I'm exploring my opinions as far as how to get film there and how to process it. I'm told the purchase of the film there would be far more expensive than if I got it here in the states. So I could purchase it here (through my work) and get it sent there and have it waiting for me when I get there. Unless some of you could offer me a suggestion. Also since I shoot mostly black and white and would prefer to process myself, I need to know if anyone knows of a photo shop that sells chemicals for the processing of film, or knows of another option.

Of course I'm trying to save as much money as possible(the trips not cheep lol)

thank you in advance.

I live in Rome and I can't give you information on shops located in the area of Florence, but I can write about cost: a roll of 36 exposures of tri-x should cost Euro 3,50 /4,00. 250 ml of Rodinal Euro 3. This are the average costs in italy. If you are buying in quantity internet is an option.

A good friend is a photographer in the US and travels to Florence 2 - 3 times a year and recommends this store. He shoots and processes his own film there, so I'd expect them to carry everything you'd need. Hope this helps.
