we've made the mistake of putting photos under glass. they are usually the color snapshots, and in those matt-less frames. i guess the glass gets hot, or humid enough to swell the resin on the print and they get stuck together.

we have a handful of framed prints like this that we don't even try to remove and "update" ... ever happen to you? how do you remove the print without destroying it ( aside from a razor )

thanks!

I would suggest that you soak it in warm water and leave it until the print parts from the glass without any persausion from you other than to keep topping up the warm water. A drop of photoflo in the water would do no harm.

I agree & just leave it alone and let the water and photo-flo do the work.

Years ago I had this problem and tried this solution. It worked most of the time, but I had a couple that were very stubborn and seemed to be permanently bonded to the glass no matter how long I soaked them. I now have one that I don't even want to try as the negative no longer exists. I'm going to scan it through the glass to make a copy.

Before you do anything, if these images are valuable to you and you don't have access to the original negatives, get the pics scanned or copied professionally. There is also a common fungus that can infect gelatine and make gelatine (and your images) water soluble, so water may not be the best bet.

great suggestions

i never tried the "soak" route, but will give it a try ..
i think there is only one print that was "gifted" and we don't have the negative for it ... i hadn't thought of making a scan of it (glass & all) and i know making copy negatives kind of was way-way at the bottom of my "list of things to do"

thanks !
