Efke-25 in 120 rolls

I'm asking this here rather then via email because I'm sure I'm not the only one interested. I was wondering if there's any ETA for when Efke-25 will be available in 120 rolls.

Efke-25 has always been available in 120, from when Efke took the Dupont plant to Croatia. It was originally sold as Adox 15 (Din - later 25ASA)

However distribution has been taken over by Fotoimpex, Berlin, and J&C in the US, and the films are again being sold as Adox.

Let me clarify my question a bit. I know that Efke-25 is still being made in 120 rolls and that they've started using the name Adox. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any available here in the US. I've found sites in Europe but they won't ship to the US and J&C the US distributor is out of stock and has been for ~5 months.

Freestyle has it in their new catalog but not on their website. They usually don't advertise something unless they have it soon. Jandc said they'd have it soon as well. I tried to preorder some.

Fair point, Fotoimpex won't ship to the States as J&C are tied up with them, however they ship to the UK despite Retro Photographic being linked with them in the UK, EU law allows and in fact decrees free trade accross our EU borders.

Our large but awful photo chain here inthe UK was selling Efke 35mm & 120 film under their own brand name, the give away on the boxes is the made in Croatia.

There's nothing to stop someone from Europe buying the film for you and posting it to the US.

I read that Fotoimpex do not ship to customers in the UK any longer, they say they have lost too many parcels with the Royal Mail. But they said that they are willing to throw any seldom requested items into the next shipment to Retro Photographic.

No EU company can refuse to post to a EU citizen based in another EU country.

Fotoimpex postage to the UK has not involved the Royal Mail, at least while I've been buying from them. I should also add that I've had very mixed experiences with private shippers like UPS and DHL.

DHL which Fotoimpex used to use were extremely fast reliable and seemed to be secure.

UPS which I think is a Kazekstan based company will leave your parcel with the nearest living thing they see near your house if your out. Having said that the goods have always arrived.

Soon, soon... I was told the 2x3 Adox 25 was to be in this week... None yet. I am seeking other sources. I feel for the person who is depending on these suppliers for a living.

One person told me that it was my fault for not stocking up and running out. Soon, someday, sometime, just don't cut it. Can you spell screw? I think the lower level films are not worth the effort and the money is in the Kodak and Ilford BIG ULF FILMs.

I want to thank those in Europe that offered to buy Efke25 there and ship it to me. Fortunatly I'm not in an immediate rush to get the film and while waiting I picked up more tmx-100 then I'll use in 6 months. Also if things get rushed I've got family living in Germany and can have them send me a few rolls. Thanks again.

I have well communicated this topic in our own forum (german) so it is no secret and I will quickly sum it up here too.

The reason why JandC has no ADOX CHS rollfilms is because we have no CHS rollfilms in our european warehouse and that is because fotokemika could not coat any rollfilms since October because after the Agfa disaster their (Agfas) film base producing plant was shut down and within months all remaining film base on the market was sold out.
When we tried to repurchase base with our western european suppliers to get it coated by fotokemika in late summer 2005 they told us they were totally out of stock for the next months.
We asked them to make some as fast as possible but because the computer industry is giving them more lucrative jobs (you need a film base like product - unfortunately of a kind not suitable for photographic coating - to make LCD panels) they said they would only do it if we buy 1000 rolls (1000sqm each). That by far exceeds the demand for any b/w rollfilm in the world.
So we had to wait until other film companies also ordered and until the production had excess capacity. They are scheduled to deliver the filmbase now for early May.
We experimented with alternative bases yet we could not guarantee quality with this.

We are very sorry this happened but the whole situation shows to some degree how difficult it has become to organize a medium to small scale photographic production. We constantly face similar problems and constantly alter our processes, workflow and stock situation.

A film base problem like this has never occurred before, so we were struck by this out of the blue. Sofar any order had been shipped within 5-8 weeks and thus we kept just in time planing, like everyone else would have done to minimize production costs.

We have now ensured to stock at least a 3 years supply of rollfilm base in order to avoid these complications in the future.

All of the above refers only to CHS rollfilms. We can supply all KB films, sheetfilms in standard sizes, and the CHM and CMS series films.

Only some "strange size" sheetfilms are still waiting for their annual production run. We can only produce these odd sizes once a year because certain minimum production quantities are required to calculate a cutting scheme in order to avoid excess cutoff on the edges of a master roll.

Rollfilms we expect to have back in stock by June/July.
As soon a we have stock again all our partners will be supplied immediately.
Until then everyone has zero stock.

I know that the Efke brand is being rename as Adox. Is the Efke R25 the same as the Adox CHS? Although 95+% of the film I use is sheet film I do like to shot 120 from time to time. Until I can get efk2 r25 in roll film I'll just keep using tmx-100.
