Hi,

Does anyone know if DR5 are still in business? I've tried to get in touch several times via phone but no reply.

Is there an alternative out there? I'm primarily interested in have getting positives made from digital files.

Thanks

Rob

Darn, I hope they are! They are local to me (which probably makes them more convenient to me than most) and I have been really looking forward to trying them out one of these days.

From their website:

5/21/10 - CALLER ID & SPAM CALLS: Due to the enormous amount of junk calls we have been getting, we were forced to enable a call blocking feature. If you have caller ID blocked on your phone, you must enable *82 to get through to us. Otherwise, you will have to use email.

I don't have my phone blocked, but I guess I'll try email next...

Thanks

DR5 is very responsive

To contact DR5, go on their web site, get the contact information, and fling David an email.

DR5 has been _very_ responsive to my emails in the past.

Within the last couple of weeks I received my film back from Dave/dr5...very nicely done. I also talked with David on the phone just before I sent my film to him around the 15th of July. -Marc

Rob. did you try emailing us directly? I have been away from the phone the past week and as noted the junk call think sometimes blocked the ID. I am also changing our ISP this week due to some issues. sorry you have had problems getting in contact.
get me a direct email with a phone and ill get back to you.

regards, dw

...and now we have sorted that out, it might be good to change the thread title. Yes, they are still in business.

Moderators, if you please?

Why? When someone posts: "Development time for APX100 in Rodinal?", no one calls moderators to change the thread title to "13 minutes".

A clear question is asked: is DR5 still in business; and the question is answerred: yes they are.

Also, the current topic title asks for alternatives, an aspect not discussed yet. I would like to see any discussion concerning this.

It was just a thought... Mainly because my first thought upon seeing the title was "Oh no! They didn't go out of business, did they?". I wouldn't want others to think the same, perhaps causing (ironically enough) loss of business for dr5.

(Although I find your comparison funny, I don't think it is comparable. Or realistic, for that matter.)

Anyhow... As I said, it was just a thought. Perhaps just an inserted "[yes]" after the first question. But no change at all is fine with me. I don't mind either way.

As for alternatives... There are do-it-yourself alternatives, but I'm not aware of any commercial alternatives.
