Does Using Anti Newton Glass negative holders effect/improve the tonality of my darkroom print?

I've been trying to get a certain tone to my prints that I've seen in professional darkrooms and can't figure out how they do it.

To my knowledge, the only affect AN glass carriers have on the final print is improved corner to corner sharpness. And, possibly, more dust spots to spot out

Sorry the examples in the other topic are not mine. They are the desired 'tone'. I guess you could call it style but it's hard to describe. Perhaps I'm talking about contrast and colour?
