Posted the following on another forum but no response:

I've just set up a De Vere 203 / MG500 combination but now see that the focusing wheel system is different to that of the 504/5108 machines.

Any advice on how to connect the focusing mechanism up? - I see there are two nylon screws on the rear of the column absent from the 504.

Hi Tom
There are two screws at the base of the column at the back. They are connected to the adjustment wheels. You will need an allen key to tighten them up, they do come loose from time to time. Hope it works. cheers Alex
