hi everyone!

got some scans from a lab with results i haven’t seen before.
the black lines are on all photos of the 35mm roll – but they change in intensity and pattern.
the lines are also on the negatives.
anybody had the same issue before?
and if so – what is it?
camera or scan or process problem?

thanks in advance

Hi

lso, they're black on positive but on film these are actually white. So to me these look like very deep scratches. Do you feel any bump or recess when you touch the film in that area?

The scratches are on the back (non-emulsion) side of the film.

The scratches look like they come from the camera. Check the film transport path including the pressure back and all rollers.

Wow! Those are some major base scratches! It would take some real force to make those!

I would guess that it was processed on a roller transport processor that had a major tension problem somewhere. The continuous nature of the scratch implies to me that if it were in the camera, the scratch would have start/stop divots; this looks continuous.

To me, this looks like it may be damage that occurred after processing. It looks like it has been gouged out of an already dried negative.

no bump at all. no actual scratch – just a very slight one, at the beginning

In positive image it is obviousy visible that upper and lower lines tore through the emulsion. Is it the first roll in that camera, or in that lab? You know, just to rule out some things.

by far not the first roll inside the camera. actually its my girlfriends...
but the last year she shot with the same camera and processed them always with “snappysnaps” in the uk, i that rings a bell. kinda chain lab. more quantity than quality... thanks

2nd emulsion scratches & looks like that happened when the film was still wet.
