just emptying out a box of books from a recent move and got to looking at Crossing the Frontier - Photographs of the Developing West, 1849 to the Present by Sandra Phillips et al
I saw the show and had bought the book then packed it away without much of a look. Taking it out again now after a few years, it's a quite wonderful and intriguing collection of landscape photographs of the West. (with a number of good essays). Well worth tracking down imo.
