Does anyone know what a Goerz 5 inch Syntor lens will cover? I'm thinking about using one for a 5x7 wide angle. Any thoughts?

64° maximum stopped down.

The Syntor f6.8 and Celor f4.5 were the main lenses manufactured during WW1 by Goerz American Optical under William or Otto Goerz. Dagor's weren't available.

This period of Goerz Berlin & Goerz American Optical is fuzzy history, but William / Otto Goerz must have had tough decisions to make after all the US company had been founded in 1895 and had begun independant manufacture in 1901.

We know the final outcome Goerz Am Optical stayed independant until its sale to Schneider in the 1970's. Where as CP Goerz Berlin was bought 2 years after Carl's death (1923) and absorbed into Zeiss forming an imprtant part of Zeiss Ikon's camera manufacture, the lenses disappearing over the next 2 or 3 years.
