I'm pleased to announce that I have been interviewed for B&W Magazine's January issue. ALSO - The issue will be featuring 14 photographs from APUG members!

It was really tough requesting entries from so few of you. Myself and B&W chose members mainly based on their APUG Gallery work. Around 30 photographs were submitted to B&W, and the editors of B&W selected 14 for the article.

Photographers selected were:
Eric Rose (article center piece on page 1, way to go Eric!)
Alp Tiritoglu
Brian McGuiness
John McCallum
Lee Carmichael
Kevin Bjorke
Charles Pere
David Goldfarb
Nigel Smith
Steve Anchell
Mike Pry
Alex Hawley
Gary Beasley
Francesco Cicoli Abad

Please do not be discouraged if your work was not selected. I feel some worthy of selection may have been passed over to show a variety of subject matter in the article. If some of you are scratching your heads thinking "hmm, why wasn't I asked?". It's possible we simply overlooked you and are sorry for that, we did our best in the selection process. We had to move quickly and with everything on my plate lately I'm surprised we were able to pull this off so well. I've never been involved with anything like this, and was caught of guard at the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes. The publisher and writer at B&W were a pleasure to work with.

A HUGE HUGE THANK YOU TO BRIAN McGUINESS!! He was my right hand man on this project. Brian fielded all of the image submissions from around the world to his office in San Fran. There was a lot of material for him to organize and get to B&W and we could not have done this without Brian, thanks man!

Also, thanks a million to the members who took time, effort, and expense to send us your best work. It is such a honor to have you involved in this.
The article should be about 6 pages, 2 of those are mostly text. I can't wait to see it.

Congratulations on bringing APUG to the attention of an astute audience. I'm sure the quality of the work presented will tempt readers to explore further and visit the site. That so many should come to know what's represented here can only bode well for the struggle to enable excellent work in a traditional medium to continue to exist with encouragement and support. Thanks for your vision and tireless effort!

Congrats to all on a job well done. It'll be a lot of fun to page through the issue and see familiar names.

I guess the APUG women's contingent is going to have to get on the ball, though, eh? Fourteen men! Sheesh. Guess it's time to work a little harder.

Congrats to all involved especially Sean and Brian.
However can we have the names tied to APUG aliases. Some are easy but some are not?

This would seem to be the fall when APUG becomes well known, first B&W UK with Eric and Lee and now those two, plus 12 more...AWESOME!! Speaking for myself it is Really Great to know there is so much talent. While we know there were many that should have been included, at some point the editorial folks move in and then..well...

However, there will be a new publication coming out at the first of the year (right Aggie?) and I am willing to bet there will be some excellent talent shown in it from this site.

Sean, hope you are ready for an increase in traffic..with two publications discussing the site and everyone seeing the work that comes out of it you can bet on an increase - hopefully and increase in subscribers as well!

Way to go APUG!

Excellent news, and congratulations to all, especially Sean.

There's a preponderance of landscape and still-life images, at least judging by the images in the contributor's galleries. Is this a preference of the magazine or a preference of APUG?

Well done to all,
Helen
PS I had difficulty finding photos by Alp, Bjorke, ChuckP, Steve Anchell and Francesco in the APUG galleries - could someone point me to them? Thanks.

Helen,
Most of the people you mentioned I too have been unable to locate their work-with the exception of Francesco.Who post stunning images very often.

Congrats to all who made it-I look forward to seeing all your work in print!

Lee Carmichael - Lee?

lee\c is mine. Thanks to everyone. I don't have a scanner so it is hard to post images. The image that I sent was a door from the Mission Espada in San Antonio, Texas. It is the same image that is in the traveling portfolio.

Very cool!! Great choices! Can't wait to get this one!

I'm with Cheryl, though...I think the ladies have some catching up to do. Maybe next time...or maybe Aggie will have a feature in an upcoming magazine! :D

Thanks to Sean and Brian for putting this together. This really bodes well for APUG.

Some of the people who don't post much to the APUG gallery (myself included) have their own websites. Look them up in the member directory or click on their names next to their posts for a website link.

I've only posted a handful of shots here on APUG's dime -- lots of other pics scattered all over the web though, and in recent months I've decided that I prefer to have some more control over them (after finding a number of them on other people's web sites or even in stock photo catalogs and magazines).

Try here or here on my site (or here on Contax G) for some bunches that I can guarantee are 100% analog and with a low percentage of landscape

Thanks Bjorke - I found all the linked websites easily thanks to Sean's good work, but not gallery photos - so that's why I asked the question, I was just curious to know what I was doing wrong. I still can't find any of your photos in the APUG gallery, by the way, but I'm a bit ditzy.

Best,
Helen

A lot of members post and then delete their photos after a bit of time. Bjorke has often included his photos inside of his posts in the forums. Helen, I don't think you did anything wrong, You joined on 7/1, and as far as I know the selection was well under way at that point.

Trade

Would any US based APUGer like to trade a copy of the current issue of US B&WP for the current issue of the UK B&WP?
