For Sale Canon CanonScan 8800F Medium Format Scanner (Reduced)

I am selling my CanonScan 8800F scanner. This is a flat bed scanner that in addition to documents can also scan 35mm, 120 film (color, negatives, positives, or B&W). It works perfectly. Included are all items shown in the photos are included, which will get you started, in particular a new 120 film holder is included. I do not have film holders for any other film format, but they are readily available on eBay at modest prices. According the Canon's USA site, they no longer support or have software or documentation downloads for this scanner, but the Canon African website has them all and right here (God bless them!):

I have used this scanner with Canon software under Windows 7 and Windows 10. With Windows 10, I successfully used the Windows 8 drivers from the above website. I can't say what will work with Windows 11, but the Windows 8 drivers might. The scanner is also supported by SilverFast. There is also support for older versions of Apple OS on the Canon site above. Alsom it's likely the Apple Image Capture App will allow the scanner's use in document mode with modern Apple OS versions, but I've not tried this (I do however routinely use a legacy Epson flatbed scanner that way).

The CanonScan 8800F scanner works perfectly and makes beautiful scans (ignore the nattering nabobs of negativism that may have reviewed this scanner in the days of yore). It can scan with as much scanning resolution as most users are willing to deal with considering the large file sizes higher resolutions can give.

Price: $60 plus shipping (by UPS Ground). Shipping will cost between about $30 and $55 dollars depending on your distance from California. Ask me for a quote. My iPhone camera is not focusing well, so apologies for the slightly out-of-focus pictures of the scanner.

Prints, yeah, but 4x5" film you'd have to scan in strips using some kind of jerry-rigged DIY adapter. AFAIK the transparency unit on these scanners only accepts a width of ca. 6cm, so enough for 120 film, but not for 4x5".

I got a 3d printer, I could rig something diy up. I've used Epson V700s before, my big worry with the canon is handling the linux software side of things, but some wizards on a forum that looks like it's from the dial-up era claim to have a solution using some "magic drivers they found somewhere they can't remember", worst case I can just hijack my girlfriend's mac haha.

AFAIK Xsane supports this particular scanner including its transparency adapter. I do see some oddball problems with it that don't seem to be dealbreakers as they can be worked around; e.g.
Note that I do not have this scanner and have not tried to use it with Xsane.
