Hello to everyone. This is my very first post. I hope this is not a silly question but I am just a beginner and any feedback would be appreciated. I cannot seem to find any info with regards to if Brett Weston ever used filter(s).

When I look at his images, specifically Mendenhall Glacier, clouds, bamboo or beech forest from his portfolios on www.brettwestonarchive.com I wonder if that was created with use of filters, developing, both or neither.

thanks in advance
Antonio

He didn't appear to use any in the DVD available of him shooting. I don't know beyond that.

You might try posting this question at largeformatphotography.info. Merg Ross, who appears in the movie and was a friend of Brett's, posts there. He may answer.

You might also try posting in the Azo forum at michaelandpaula.com. They are publishing Brett's portfolios and may have some information.

Juan's advice about checking with Merg is right on. Merg knew Brett quite well and is a very approachable guy. A quick Google search and you should be able to find his email address.
