I'm relatively new to self-processing & printing, and would like to know what books the forum recommends for taking printing to a slightly higher level.
My first forays into gelatin-silver printing were done after and while reading Henry Horenstein's Black & White Photography , and I am generally pleased with my results thus far. Recognizing that I have a lot to learn still, where can I go from here?
Would experimentation (trial & error) serve me well at this point, or is there a book that is indispensible? I've not done any kind of toning, nor have I tried burning/dodging.
Thanks!
