Excellent feature, Cheryl! Great interview and some of my favourites out of your portfolio. Nice to see you getting some publicity on this side of the pond. Now all you need is a regular column...!

Ailsa, I honestly think this is the best issue so far. Leaving aside the feature on Cheryl (which I was finally able to do after the third reading?!) Seamus Ryan's flower shots are stunning, Les's comparative dev test is fascinating, the darkroom technique articles are outstanding and the monochrome workshop is a) very good and b) features Cauldron Falls in West Burton where I completely loused up a shoot about a month ago!

One thought; aren't you making life harder for yourself. I mean, how're you going to top this one?!

Please keep up the good work!

All the best,

Frank

I look forward to the December issue finding its way to London... I'm not used to magazines coming out in the same calendar month as it says on the cover...

Don't feel bad, I was finally able to purchase the October issue this week. I may see the December issue in February.

Thanks very much! I just flew home from San Diego this morning (was there to watch the Broncos get punished by the Chargers) and this is a very nice welcome home.

I'm looking forward to seeing the issue. Ailsa and her staff are fantastic to work with, and I really enjoyed the experience.

Congratulations Cheryl, hopefully it will find it's way to the shelves down here in the West Country very soon. Bob you should see it before I do but we will have to hope there aren't the wrong type of leaf on the track or wrong type of snow Exeter way

Had the best of both worlds here. Managed to read your feature and watch the game on our satellite tv ! BTW I forgot to mention the interesting test by Les of three developers.

You mean it got to Holland before it reached the South West corner of England? OK I'm really sulking now :surprised:

Maybe Jorge has had them put us on their ignore list

Either that or Ailsa recognises Holland as one of the leading nations in B&W photography. (;

The US version, is that a good magazine???
Amazing! As it was explained to me the UK Black and White Photography which I get every month is for photographers, the US Black and White is for collectors and photographers. Both have stunning pictures but the US version has a lot more looking at the one in front of me. I am feeling very inspired just looking at it.

I'd rate Black and White Photography the best UK magazine and Black and White the best US magazine I've seen.

Tony,

The US one does have some stunning images (along with some less stunning ones, it has to be said) but so does the UK mag. Plus this month's UK mag has a comparison of RODINAL with PMK-pyro and Precsysol.

The chap doing the comparison seems quite knowledgeable. Some bloke called "McLean"...?!

All the best,

Frank

Frank looks like a subscription is going to be on my Christmas list this year.

I think I'll also see if the local newsagent can get me the US version as well. I know it's being greedy but then I'll have the best of both worlds
