Ok, before you guys start thinking I'm nuts..wait I am nuts...

Anyhow, our own Bill Schwab has a new book coming out - Gathering Calm.
Bill's work is quite good and I thought some here might want a chance to see his new work before it is released...and from all the contact that I have had with Bill, he is always very modest - but one heck of a photographer.

I have no connection with Bill or the book, just like to see good photographers be appreciated and since everyone here enjoys good photography thought I would share...

Mike - Fred!
Thank you so much for the plug and kind words! I've been away for awhile and have just returned from press-check in Vermont where the book was printed by Stinehour Press. It was an amazing experience and they did an incredible job.

Fred, as far as I know the book will be available through The Photographer's Gallery in London and online via the publisher. Other European distribution is in the works and I can let you know more in the coming days. It will be available in the US through Photo-Eye.

Thanks again for the kind mention!

I already have my copy and a few of Bill's prints. They are all outstanding. His photos are what I aspire to make. Thanks for putting this new book out.

Wow! I looked at the preview and your photos look great Bill. Same with the ones posted here. Its nice to see an APUG member being recognized. I'll definitely have to get a copy.

Thanks Will and Daniel! ...

Will, Very happy you like your copy. I couldn't be happier OR more suprised at the response. Looks like a second printing isn't far off.

Great meeting you at AIPAD this year. I really appreciated you coming up to the booth and introducing yourself. Hope to see you again next year if you get back to the show.

Best of luck with your work!

Sort of a bump - I just received my copy of this terrific book, and want to recommend it to everyone. Put it on your Holiday wish list, get it for yourself, buy it for the other photographers in your life, everyone will be happy.

The pictures really evoke this time of year, and I've already spent part of the evening near a crackling fire (well, not too near - books are flammable!), sipping some liquid refreshment, listening to some light Classical music, gazing at the photos in this book (while ignoring the rain pattering on the roof) and, "getting mellow," as we used to say in the goodle days.

Bill, your photographs are wonderful, and I have never been happier with a book purchase.

Everybody else, follow the link in the first post. And hurry - the web site says the 1st edition is nearly sold out!

Thanks for the notice. I hadn't checked out his work before, so when I did this time it was very impressive. In fact, the books can be ordered directly from him, which I did.
In fact, I'd love to work with him in person some time.

I've had this gentleman in my bookmarks long before I realised he is an APUGer.

Thanks for the heads up on this new book, it looks really superb as does the photography.

I got the books today. "Gathering Calm" is superb. Makes me want to buy my own fog machine. Worth every penny ($55). I unfortunately also ordered his earlier book at the same time -- a lot of duplication, much smaller, and the printing isn't the same quality. Not that it's actually, bad, it's just sort of a waste of $20. Oh well, can't win 'em all. Now to figure out which distant relative would appreciate a small book of photographs for Christmas.

Forgive a blow on my own horn, but I just found out today that my book won a bronze in the fine art book category of the annual SAPPI Awards for Printing Excellence. The folks at Stinehour Press where it was printed are very excited judging by the tone of the call I received! Apparently this is a big deal for them as there were over 2000 entries. They did a fantastic job of printing my photographs and I am happy for them to get some recognition for this. They are not easy images to reproduce.

Ditto, though I must add that I do talk to Bill on occasion online and he is a wonderful guy... so you should doubly buy it

Thank you all so much, but it really speaks more of the quality of which Stinehour is capable. Everyone there was spectacular and I consider the fact they believed enough to enter it an honor. Like I said, my photographs can be a nightmare to printers because of the soft shadow detail. As I was told... "there's not a black in there". But they consistently blew me away with proof after proof, gave me my own office with high-speed internet for 3 days of press time and most of all treated me like family. In fact I keep in regular contact and can't wait to work on the next book with them.

By the way... these are free plugs. They are THAT good.

Thanks again all! It means a lot.
