Registration is now open for the Beginning Darkroom Workshop on September 9, 2018: https://www.dallascenterforphotography.com/classes-and-workshops/beginner-darkroom-parent/

Our Beginner Darkroom class is an introduction to black and white film processing for those who have worked in a darkroom and want to get back into it and those who haven’t done it yet! You’ll learn to process your own black and white film, make contact sheets, select the best frame for printing and work with an enlarger. Using chemistry and light you will create unique prints, completely hand made by you.

We're Giving Away a Home Darkroom Setup at this Workshop! One participant will be chosen at random to go home with an enlarger and accessories including timer, trays, safelight, easel. . . everything you need to start a home darkroom.

Intermediate workshop scheduled for October 27. https://www.dallascenterforphotography.com/classes-and-workshops/intermediate-darkroom/

I think the biggest obstacle to people doing darkroom work these days is real estate. It's not gear. People are giving it away ...

Seriously, I have had students with no intention of ever setting up their own lab, but plan on using rental and community darkrooms, of which there are precious few.

    thanks for the good wishes.

DCP darkroom 090918 small.jpg Very Successful beginner darkroom workshop this past Sunday! Everyone got their film developed and one or more prints made. The intermediate workshop on October 27 is filling up, too!

It's been a tough road at Dallas Center for Photography to get the teaching darkroom really up and going. It was hard to fill out the initial workshops, but things seem to be looking up. We've also had wet plate, and other alternative workshops, and even had Alan Ross in a few weeks back for an advanced printing workshop.
