Hello all, I am 23 and in college right now. I took photography 101 several years ago, and have been a TA for the teacher ever since. He's been a good friend to me, as I have for him, helping him out with non-school related help anytime he asks. Been using a Minolta XG1 for my film shooting and love it. After being a TA, I have learned even more about photography. I'm shocked I actually found people like me who can talk darkroom all day.

HI Nathan. Welcome to the forum, glad you found us here, this is a great community. BTW, I assume you men Washington when you say WA; there are people on the forum from the other WA - Western Australia. :D I'm sure they will say hello later on.

Haha, yeah, rainy old Washington.

I use HC 110 developer for film, Dektol developer for paper, and whatever paper I can get for free.

You'd be surprised how many people leave everything behind after the quarter is over. I've found totally unopened packs of printing paper! Score!

Hey Nathan, welcome aboard APUG

I'm just up the coast, tucked under Alaska's panhandle.

Ahhhh...sigh...college memories...

Hi Nathan, and welcome.

A Question for you. It's really great to have you here, I have often wondered, 'What drives a young man like yourself towards the traditional side of photography?' Especially when you must be surrounded by digi-freaks, shouting from the rooftops about how wonderful their latest gizmo is!

So many people who have been brought up with film seem to be going the other way! Just interested, hope you didn't mind me asking.

Enjoy your stay

Kind Regards

Stoo

I was raised shooting traditional all my life, and while I enjoy shooting with my digital camera, I enjoy working in the darkroom just as much. I try to shoot a roll of 35mm regularly to have some fun.

I enjoy my digital for the instant gratification it gives me. I've managed some pretty nice shots with it, and it's been quite useful in selling stuff online.
