I just returned from a day trip to San Francisco. I stopped by the MOMA to chack out the August Sander Exhibit. I left with mixed fealings. I was totally blown away by the tonality and shadow detail on some of the prints, while others looked like straight work prints. Anyone have any ideas about technique used here? I figure he was probably contact printing negs shot on large format folders. Anyone else seen the exhibit? It hits NY in 2004, and is headed to Berlin next.
