The APUG Photo Challenge is a monthly bash where members go and make a photograph fitting a given theme and upload the result to the APUG Challenge Gallery. The original idea came from APUG member (and B&WP UK editor) Ailsa who said (in part):

"I was pondering the other day that I often produce my best work when given a brief or a project, whereas when an idea is self-imposed, I tend to just float around it and not really knuckle down. So I got to thinking, how about setting up an APUG photographic challenge thread?"

"The themes can be as open or as specific as you like, within reason - obviously there wouldn't be much point in telling me to photograph a tree in Yosemite, unless the person setting the challenge was willing to pay my air fare and accommodation..."

"...it could be a great opportunity to break out of our usual styles and try something completely different."

The Challenge is currently running.

March Challenge -
Theme: Geometry / Angles
Closing Date: Mar 31

This thread is for the April Challenge (suggestions for the theme and general discussion). At the weekend (26/27 March) or slightly before I'll set up another thread to poll the themes that have been suggested. (Sorry about the tighter-than-usual timescale for suggestions / polling, but I'm going to be offline from Easter for two or three weeks so I'm afraid it's the best I can do.)

What we need now are some good, imaginative suggestions for April's challenge.

Over to you!

"Everyday Things". Something you use everyday.
Got a few votes last time, so I'd thought I'd re-introduce the theme.

Last call for suggestions. I'll start the poll on Saturday.

Come on, what would you like to see people take a crack at?

how about "bad weather".... force us to get out into the elements (which many of us avoid) and take pictures in the rain, snow, slush, fog, etc (which many of us avoid).

March/April is a good time to find it, no matter where you live.

I'll throw out an idea selfishly: How about "Night Photography"? I suggest this because it's an area I've always wanted to investigate seriously but I haven't gotten to yet...but if the challenge was there (now that I'm finally going to have a bit of free time to shoot) I'd take the opportunity to get out after dark.

Apologies, Bjorke. I've already kicked off the poll for this month. (See elsewhere in this forum.)

If you submit a suggestion for next month's Challenge then I'll be more than happy to include it.

Best regards

Fairytales -- great one! I think this suggestion would really stretch us. A lot of the others are large enough to suit work we've already done, or common enough to not have to think too hard.

I may do the fairytales one even if it's not the winning suggestion.
