Any Durst M601/CLS66 owners out there?

Hi!

As the proud owner of a DurstM601/CLS66 i have enjoyed hours of printing in the darkroom. So far i have just printed with condensor, because the Enlarger came without diffusor for the color head.

Today I recieved a mail from the guy who sold it to me, with information that he had found a diffusor marked SIVOBOX 35 but he promised to keep looking incase he found some other parts.

Question is: Will the SIVOBOX35 do the trick, or should I cross my fingers and hope for a SIVOBOX66? I am guessing the 35 is for 35mm, and 66 for 6x6...

I had the color head version of the same enlarger [possibly it was an M605] (actually mine had been relabeled and sold under the Agfa name but it is the same enlarger). Yes the diffusion box you refer to is intended for 35 mm. It is meant to give a more intense light for 35 mm film. I believe but cannot confirm that you may have less coverage with it than with the MF diffuser box. I actually had the reverse situation and was using the MF box for both. I no longer have the enlarger however that is not a reflection on it. It is fine. I find Durst enlargers including their smaller ones much better designed and built than Beseler, Omega etc. I still use an old Durst 138 for 5x7 and 4x5. I am assuming from your post that you are shooting MF but you did not make it clear what format you are using. Get the 35 diffuser just in case you also do 35 mm.

I can see i was a bit unclear on what i am shooting, but you where absolutely right. I am shooting MF (6x6) most of the time, but i guess it will be handy to be able to enlarge 35mm if i feel the urge for a rangefinder...

Well.. I better cross fingers for Sivobox66

EDIT: Some early tests i did without the diffusor shows a dark square in the centre of the projected image. Using the condensor provided similar results....

I have an older 600 with a color head which came with the mixing box for
6X6, I made a mixing box out of white plastic for 35mm. It was rather easy to do, found the plastic at a home improvement store and cut it to size and glued it togeather with silicon adheavise. Seems to a little brighter than the 6X6 box when I use 35.
