Hello,

I'm wondering who's using here the Analyser Pro from RH Designs?
And what are the experiences?

What paper/enlarger combinations do you use?
And what calibrations figures can we expect? For exemple: Durst M805 and Ilford Multigrade FB warmtone?

Hello Fred,
I bought one last year and I must say that it works a treat. The enlarger you use makes no difference. Paper settings can be downloaded from www.rhdesigns.co.uk. You can also find the manual there.
Any questions (that I can help you with) just let me know.

I do have one as well as some others here. You can also find some posts about the device here.
I use it for everything (including color, where different grades in my case mean different types/makes). Calibration is easy and the procedure is built-in. Additionally, the manual contains settings for various papers as a starting point.

I've got one too. I found the preset calibration spot on for ilford MGRC, although needed a little tinkering for MBFB - which was very easy. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Can you describe how you, personally, execute the calibration procedure?

I didn't take time, untill now, for finetuning the pre-settings of pap1 wich is the MG IV RC, I think.

To be honest Fred, I cant really remember and the analyser pro is packed away for now (am moving house) I'll let you know once I've unpacked and re-set up.

personally, I use a continuous wedge with 0,2logD/cm from Gevaert Graphic. With that, I can "measure" ISO-P and ISO-R values with a simple ruler.

I have also been successful with the procedure "Advanced Calibration Instructions" in the manual page 26ff (I hope your manual is the same). First of all, take the values from page 32 for MG FB Warmtone on the upper right as a starting point. Then adust the paper speed to match the nearest non-white. After that, adjust contrast settings to match the nearest non-black. For warmtone paper, I would recommend to replace the grey scale of the Analyzer with a custom grey scale, because the greys look different on warmtone paper. Look at "Making the Grey Scale" in the manual page 29ff. But you must calibrate your paper first.

I still have one. However, it's currently up for sale. It worked wonderful when I had a condensor head; however, I've not been so impressed with my new cold light head. THe problem is really the cold light head's tendancy to flutate. Thus, I've decided to order the Analyser's counterpart the stopclock vario. This will fix the problem wih my cold light head. Other than theproblem with my cold light head it is an outstanding unit. My most used function is the f-stop test srip mode. Absolutely great!! If you're shopping for one I'll make you a great deal on a mint analyser.

Yesterday, I did some prints with the pre-settings for Multigrade FB Warmtone and it worked verywell. No teststrips needed.
