Hi Folks

I would like to announce an upcoming event in Toronto this May. Dead Link Removed
I think a lot of you would would be interested not only in the processes but also the speakers/instructors we have brought in. Solid members of our community for sure teaching what they love and do well.
This event is in May 2011 in conjunction with the Toronto Contact Photo Festival.http://scotiabankcontactphoto.com/
Contact Festival has been in existence for more than a decade and I have been involved with every one. Over 200 shows this year and the combination of our Alternative Symposium and the events of Contact is overwhelming reasons to visit Toronto in May and see how friendly Canadians really are.
Not to mention my wife and will participate in a Contact Festival show where we will show my solarizations and her gum over platinums at Arta Gallery during the first two weeks of May.
hope to see you in Toronto this spring
Bob

Sounds fantastic -- wish I could go, but I won't be back in Canada until August at the earliest. Wish I had taken the chance to go to the Contact Photo Festival a few years ago when I was living in Toronto.

Looks great. I'd love to come. What's the $$$? I didn't find that on the website. The cost of getting to Toronto from the West Coast will have to be factored into it before I start to figure out if I can get away from work for a week.
I've been waiting for something like this to happen in Vancouver, but I guess I'll have to hold my breath for a looong time. I'd rather stay in Canada, so this might be my best chance.

As I am just getting into Alternative processes (and am located in Toronto), I will definitely be going!

This really looks great, Bob. Unfortunately, as I posted eslewhere, it is right in the middle of "I've-got-a-day-job" season, and I will be unable to attend. With impending retirement in June, I will have a clear calendar to attend events like this whenever they occur.
Still... sounds like fun.

Cheers,

Thats really great,, Gallery 44 is holding quite a few courses in advance of the symposium to get people ready for the workshops.
For example, the course Guillume is doing has a pre requisite and G 44 has darkroom orientation days to get people use to the enlargers before taking his course.
As well there are a lot of alt process day courses to familiarize the members before May. Gallery 44 has over 800 members and is an amazing facility and gallery for photographic artists.

As I am just getting into Alternative processes (and am located in Toronto), I will definitely be going!

David - do you mind emailing them that from the site, I am not the go to person on registration or info, I am facilitating supply's and making sure the instructors visit is a pleasant one.

On this note there is one or two paid assistant positions to help the instructors.
Must have a car , open slate for the whole week, and deep interest in the work. You can contact me directly at bob@elevatordigital.ca.
Not a lot of money but an opportunity to mesh with top rate instructor.

the registration/ticket control seems to have gone missing from the carbon transfer workshop page...

Sorry Guillaume
For the sake of mankind attending this event we have to keep him on the street, He wears shorts in Feb so I think May will be ok.

Thanks David for signing up , much appreciated and Sandy won't let you down.

It's going to be a fun week !
I can take Dinesh with me on a Humanitarian Asylum.
Aren't streets still cold in Toronto a that time ?
You can't do that to him !

Hello? Hello? Can anyone tell me where I can find out what it costs so I can begin to make a decision? In my work 4 months lead time to a week away is very short!

First time you write my name right !
2011 is starting well !

I actually noticed that as well.

Guillaume, I am up for a beer or two when you get here.
John, you are welcome to join us as long as you buy!
Bob, the darkroom is the best place for you to be. Not because of your skills, but because of your aesthetics!

Bump (registration closing next week)

No way man, we are keeping the registration open right up to the last minute.
Thanks for the bump, we will be posting a lot more info over the next month leading to the opening of Contact and right through the Symposium.

I've signed up for Vaughn's carbon print workshop in Vancouver, so I won't be making the cross country trek this year.
