Agfachrome 50 processing advice

I was given a film (expiry date January 1975) and in the enclosed "data" sheet it says about the film that "it can be developed, by you with Process 41 (new designation for CU-chemicals)".

What sort of process is this? C-41? That ounds a bit odd since it is an Agfachrome film. Is it perhaps related to this (there was a url link here which no longer exists) and the AP-41 process mentioned?

And what does CU-chemicals mean? Is the film even possible to develop in some way?

Well - Jerevan I have made no good report based on experience with expired
RSX II 50 (10/2008).
And this was in 2009 !!!!!.......?
I would like to state : Fine emulsion due to ISO50 - but with pure stability.
Your film is Agfachrome 50 many years before the RSX series?
To that time a very expensive E6 film
I remember $16,95 .....and much more
grainy in comparison to Ektachrome50 -
the better and cheaper film.
What should we give a recomandation to
you ? E.I. ISO 25 and push 1 to your
1975 film ?
The use as a bw film with D76 developer.
In any case you will have a foogy something here nothing is to see.
Sorry to tell you but this is realistic.

Sorry - forgetting to say because I was to much impressed from your expired date.
Yes - AP41 was Agfas named E6 process to the time of an other Agfa legendary film : Agfa CT18.
Hope I am correct but to that time it was
E6. May be it was E4 but Agfachrome50
to this time should be first E6.

But never mind - this will help you no more...1975........?

Ähhhm .....I am a bit confused because I just read AP41 is not the same as E6 ?
Thats terrible.......the whole last decades I was sure it is just Agfas own name to the E6 standard.
May be wikipedia is wrong ...
But it seams to be I mixed up some
facts....
Never mind - since 1984 Agfa CT 18 was
definitive E6.......long long time ago !

But you shouln't worry about the correct
process at all - as I stated : It will not help you.
The question about CU Chemicals I have
to pass - a possible simple abrivation with simple meaning but I can't guess.
Noting in regard of cupper - I can say for
sure (CU) - but that's it.

CU means Color-Umkehr = color reversal

Of course it hints at Agfa's propriatory reversal process (in this case AP-41) as they were one of the last to change from their type Agfacolor couplers to those of the Ektachrome type.

What ever you do, DON'T try and cross process any AP41 (Agfachrome) film in C41, even at 20C. It's not like Agfacolor CNS negative film which some people have had good results in C41 @21C.

You will get a blank film just like trying to develop B&W film in C41. AFAIK the bleach kills the the image which is B&W.

If you wish to process it, then try standard B&W developing.

I do remember Agfacolor 400 was their first C41 film in 1978. I think is was the early 1980's for the still film Agfachrome AP41 to E6 change. I remember the Agfa Moviechrome E6 (super 8) was 1982, it's predecessor was Agfachrome (super 8) AP41.
