With all things going on I don't have much time trying and testing "new" stuff and I have settled on Neopan 400 (35mm) in rodinal for the B&W I'm shooting when I can't help it and now I figure I'll get some 120 too. I'm Without a regular darkroom for the time being so no printing.
Well the problem is I'm sometimes in need of more speed either because of very low light or very slow lens. What's the wiser thing to do ? Adding a faster film e.g. Nepan 1600 and/or Delta 3200 or try to push the Neopan 400 with DDX or...? either way I have to learn a new combo.

That's a question I'm pondering. I've started working
with ACU-1 the one-shot version of Acufine. Ethol's
UFG I think is another developer good for full speed.
Any of those three may be good for pushing. So
many good reports of those developers, this
and other groups. Dan

In an article in Black&White Photography sometime ago Roger Hicks Talked about HP5+ in DDX claiming that shot @1200EI it would only be around 2/3 stop push over the true speed of this combo. So is the same true for Neopan 400/DDX and will the quality compare orr be better than Neopan 1600. IIRC there was a thread about Neopan 400 vs 1600 but I can't find it.

Seems I have tried Neopan 1600 long ago but forgot about it
Ill look trough my old files and see how it looks. However it still leaves me missing a fast film in 120.

I've shot Delta 3200 pushed to 6400 when my DAUGHTER was on the wrestling team. It gave acceptable shutter speed with gym lights. Was it grainy? You bet. You brain will accept grain. What it doesn't like is fuzzy edges. It did however give more than black, white, and one shade of grey.
