I have a Fuji 90mm f/8 that is showing signs of some slight "schneideritis", and while this is a fairly common event with some S.K. lenses, I wasn't aware of Fuji being subject to this problem. What can others tell me about this?
The bubbling is very mild, and additionally some coating has come off in a few very, very thin strips along some sections of the ridge lines on the inner barrel.
Just as with the S.K.'s, this hasn't led to any concern with artifacts or image degradation from what I've seen from all of the images taken to date, in both colour & B&W. Otherwise it's a beautiful hunk of glass, with excellant multicoating. Am I right to believe that it's the multiple surface multicoatings that keep this concern safely under control?
Lastly, I know of Arax Photo in Kiev, who offer super reasonable pricing on lens repolishing/recoating, but if I wanted to completely rectify this matter, is there anyone offering a similar service for the schneideritis virus? (without having to sacrifice a number of body parts in exchange?)
