I just purchased a used 300 APO Ronar. The lens is mounted in a Compur 1 shutter. Looks to me as if it had been multi coated, but I could be wrong. The question.... The lens is TINY! The front filter thread is around 40mm. Looking at specs on the various WEB Pages familiar to all of us ( and Rodenstock's as well) tells me this lens should have a front thread of 49mm.

What I am most interested in is the coverage... This lens is not a big coverage item, only at 264mm, according to the same aspecs. If my lens is a smaller ( older? different lens with the same name?) version, is it the same lens as currenly on spec, and do I have the same 264 image circle coverage?

Anyone out there have one of the lenses?

I have one. I thought it covered 810, altho I never tried it and now it is up for sale. Mine was made in 1958. You can check yours by searching for Rodenstock serial numbers. It was single coated and a fine lens on 5x7.

I have one, Frank. Mine has 49mm filter threads, is single coated and has SN 9722253. It is mounted in a Copal 1 shutter. It covers 8x10 straight on with no problem at small apertures. Have'nt measured the coverage circle.

Mine is also from around 1958.....

Looks like I will not have coverage problems on my tiny 4x5 format film......

I know the 49mm Filter sized lens is the one that was made last... it is the earlier lens, same as Loose Gravel that I was wondering about...

BTW, bought it at Russ' in Santa Barbara.....Did I end up buying your lens?
