As I stated in another thread, I just finished another printing session.
The good news is that I used the same developer as last week's printing session, with no alterations at all.
For those just tuning in, I accidentaly mixed a batch of ID-78 with twice the amount of sulfite it calls for. It turned out to be a happy accident, since this ID-78+ (as I hereby baptise it) has an incredible tray and shelf life as a working solution. Not to mention beautiful tones with JandC polywarmtone (very, very, very similar to Neutol WA). I'll post an example later on today.
To give you guys some idea of this developer's life span, I mixed it last week, and printed with it monday. I then poured it back into a bottle, and let it seat until today, when I printed with it again. At the end of today's session, it had a very faint yellow tint, kind of like D-76 1:1, if my memory serves me right. Neutol WA, on the other hand, lasted one printing session, and died before I could use it again (2 days later, for example).
Has anyone noticed how happy I am with this new developer?
And changing subject: Today I bought a pack of nitrile gloves, since I ran out of latex, and man, it's so much better! Latex gloves always ended up with holes in them due to the chemicals, and I had to use 2-3 per printing session. The nitrile gloves I bought today showed no problems at all. One glove lasted the entire session, and didn't rip when snagged. The box of nitrile gloves cost me about twice as much as latex would have, but it seems like a good deal...
Well, that's all for now, folks. It's 3:30pm and I haven't eaten anything all day long. Lunch calls... I'll post an example of what the developer is all about later.
