220 Provia/Velvia 50: where is it to be found?

hey guys,

In my quest to pare down spending, and still keep shooting regularly, I'm attempting to take up Samy's(Santa Barbara store) offer of $5/roll on E-6 processing. Bear in mind, this is for 120 AND 220(same $5/roll price). So, after just receiving a 220 back for my Hasselblad, I'm looking to get some chrome to fill 'er up .

So, B+H says its "discontinued", but after finding it at some other dealers who I've never heard of before, I'm somewhat suspect on whether it has been relegated to "special order" status? I hope not, even with the lowered rate of consumption of E-6 films these days, I've moved to completely shooting with E-6 for my serious work. C-41 is for when someone(or me) wants optical color prints(I'm still working on getting going with Ilfochrome).

So, would anyone be willing to share their sources if they have one/some for 220 Provia and Velvia 50?

Ever wonder why 220 backs are so cheap and plentiful?

All you can do is shop around. Check the Fuji/Kodak sites and see what's available. Both makers have axed most of their 220 films. Looks like it's 120 or nada.

Photowarehouse has short and recently past dated Fuji film. They might have some 220.

I have a bunch of Velvia 220 in my freezer.

Probably cost you $1/roll to develop 120 yourself... if you're really looking to develop on the cheap that's the way to do it.

Not much on eBay and the prices probably don't make it worth your while.

As you may notice Fuji did not discontinue 220 E6 film yet, at least for the Japanese market.
I do see a bunch here in Tokyo Japan.

However, it may be true that in other place in the world, they stopped exporting.

May be you could buy it from the shop like below (direct import from Japan):

... but looking at the price, I think it is too expensive (too much commission?, approx. $20 higher compared to the price that I can get in Tokyo for 5 rolls pack).

That looks like 120mm (sic) film to me, not 220m (sic) film...

Yeah, but do a search on Amazon for 220 color film and you'll find some.

There isn't much. All of them that I saw said "hurry - only xx left in stock" and most were under 10.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ultrafine
but
you have to contact them to find out what they have.

The website isn't accurate.
I did have the guy go look in the warehouse once for me for some 220 they had listed as in stock but no go.

Ebay. It's where I found mine. I paid less than $3 / roll for frozen RVP (not RVP 2).
