Okay different lensboard question. The adapter on the Ansco is actually about 160mm with a smaller lip on the inside of about 150mm. Does this sound like the Toyoview 158mm board?

Not quite. The older wooden boards usually have a lip (dado) along all 4 edges to create a light trap when the "steps" fit together. Toyo boards are metal, with a inward-facing flange of about 4mm in depth that fits into a slot/depression in the face of the standard.

The adapter that somebody fitted to the camera I guess is metal. It's not wood. I'd like to get the current recessed board. Assuming it fits  From the sound of it the thing might fit.

Thanks

Nick,
I'm in the process of building an adapter to use 4x4 lensboards on my Omega (Graphic view style). Should have had it done quite some time ago, but I've been out of the country for 6 weeks and just got back last night. Give me about 4 or 5 days to reorient myself and I'll send you some sketches of what I've come up with so far. I've machined lensboards on my cnc router and other than getting the perimeter groove in the right place, and the right depth, not much to them. For me at least, $50+ for a lensboard is silly.

No I've got an adapter. The problem is the Linhof 98mm board would be smallish for a recessed lens. So I'd rather figure out what the right larger board is supposed to be. I've looked at the SKGrimes website and I get the impression the adapter I have is supposed to be a 162mm Technika board. The measurements match up. The way it's mounted to the camera I think the Toyo at 158mm will be okay. Who ever adapted the camera to mount this adapter placed it on the face of the front standard.

tell you what, I'm going to need a few recessed boards, let me come up with something in about a week, I'll send you a drawing and/or pics and see if it might help you. one nice thing about the omega/toyo's is that they don't pivot in like the graphic view does, makes it easier to have a larger recess.
