If you go directly to the Hasselblad, you will save yourself a lot of trouble since you will not go through a lot of buying and selling. Hasselblad is the goal, not the journey.

If I was not need several Hasselblad repairmen, I would want access to a Hasselblad jig. In fact everyone should have access to a jig to square up the cameras they own.

I tried a number of developers and I found that XTOL was very forgiving and has a number of advantages. When I started using replenished XTOL the developer got even better tonality.

All of the posts on this thread just shows all of us what a great bargain the Hasselblad system is and it is so much more flexible, does not need viewfinder lines, lots of lenses and interchangeable film backs. Image how many lenses one can get if they ditch their Leica and buy Hasselblad!

F5s also make good door stops and wheel chocks.

Too avoid banding on a WideLux F7 or F8 that has not been used for a while, without film cock and fire 80 to 100 times. That smooths out the lubrication so you can avoid banding. Tempe Camera in Arizona does really good CLA work on WideLuxes.

I use the box speed and if I want more shadow detail, it put the shadow detail in Zone 2, Zone 3 or Zone 4 [based on box speed] and develop normally. That lets me mix all types of photographs on a roll of film.

I had the problem, advancing the film makes it worse. If less film is unwound, less gets light struck.

Yes stop before. That will keep the light off the beginning of the roll. I had the problem with a Hasselblad back and that took care of the problem until I could get the film back serviced.

I never felt like giving up. If you think that your photograph is not interesting enough, move in to get rid of things that are not necessary in the composition. That will make each photograph more interesting. Post your photographs, ask for advice and you will find it.

With a Hasselblad you get a lighter camera, a system, lenses, parts and service. Yes one waits longer between buying lenses, but then the lenses are better and one gets more joy and use out of them.

There are camera clubs and there are camera clubs. The one I went to was good at giving constructive criticism, but after a while the monthly judging got into gaming: a black & white print could only win if it was high contrast with a lot of pop, slides would in if the judge liked the subject...

There is a big difference between criticizing and giving constructive criticism. The former is found on the internet in general, while there are some here at Photrio that will take the time to provide well thought out and knowledgeable advice.

Without a composition, there is not an interesting photograph. As Ansel Adams said about "sharp focus on a fuzzy concept".

The Hasselblad 503 CX and many other models do not use batteries and one does not need to wear a truss to carry it around.

I found that a shoulder bag was not good for my back because it throws the back off. I use backpacks that load from the top instead. I take off the backpack and put it down rather than twist around. Consider that.
