===> For the record, I believe that when a meter is in incident reading mode with a white dome sensor active, the best practice is to be at the subject and aim towards the camera. <====
C41 has a wide exposure range so exposure can be off for part of the roll and the photographs will be usable. Slide film lacks the wide range so if the exposure is off by more than half an f/stop the photograph may not be saveable.
When there was only film, the camera cost was eventually exceeded by the cost of film and processing. That is still probably true for film cameras. For digital cameras, the costs for cameras, lenses, accessories, software, computers et al now drive the costs and shutter activations have little...
Thank you. I have the 30mm, 38mm [SWC], 50mm, 80mm, 100mm, 150mm, 250mm and 500mm lenses so the FlexBody is in the growth path, while the ArcBody would be big cost impact. By the way, your avatar changes are dizzying.
I agree with your comments about 150mm and 250mm lenses, there is not much need for shift, but useful for focus.
The Mutar 1.4 extension has always pulled the rug out from under my feet every time I think about it. And the double cable release.
I have two 4"x5" cameras and have only used...
Even if I had registered every photograph with the copyright office, chasing down each downloader is too expensive. Putting a line across the image or watermarking is not worth the effort. My solution is to very rarely post anything on the internet.
I have a 4"x5"Graflex Model D and a 4"x5" Pacemaker Speed Graphic. Neither of which have appreciable movements and are not as easy to move around as a FlexBody.
Exactly the point. I posted a photograph on APUG around 2007 as an example of humor and for the APUG users to view. In less than 24 hours, the website showed that it had been downloaded hundreds of times. Who downloaded them without my permission? What did they do with the photograph without...
I like that format and the Instamatic Cameras. They were popular for a while and I sold many Instamatic 104s. The format never moved to compete with 35mm though.
For some unknown reason, marketing?, 24x24 or 24x28, or 24x30 just never caught on. Perhaps the inertia cause by Leica being the first on the market with 24x36 was too much to overcome.
Maloof did bring Vivian Maier's work to the public. I am not sure I see that he devalued the system, because no laws where changed in the process. Everything stayed the same. Just the public is more aware of the laws, maybe.
Thank you for your insights.
The Mutar is tilt only, three lenses and extends the focal length and the cost is about the same as the FlexBody. The FlexBody does not extend the lens focal length and handles 40mm through 250mm, while the ArcBody is very pricey and I would have to buy three...
I remember when the Olympic Pen F first came out, all the engineers at work were very excited about it. I do not remember if the excitement resulted in any purchases.
Half frame cameras are in portrait format when held normally. One has to rotate the camera for landscape format. We can avoid such discussions by using the Perfect Format - Square.
