When I sold cameras, one camera store I worked for had a policy not to show people how to load the camera so that they had to read the manual at home. Always check the rewind for tension when at the beginning of the roll. The best photographs are taken without film or with the lens cap one...
Sometime giving a full answer overwhelms the person who asked the question. I rather is a usable answer followed by a conversation that develops answers for the near future. It the inquisitive one wants more details, I take the time to explain them. We are in a running conversation on...
My 503 CX does not have the sliding mirror. I have not found that to be a problem with the 250mm, 500mm and 500mm with the 2XE, however I changed to view screen to have only cross hairs and not micro focus ring nor focusing wedges to go dark when working with long lenses.
When my children were growing up, I kept a camera set up with a strobe nearby so the either the wife or I could capture the moments. I also keep a ready camera nearby for outdoor activity. Move in close for the photographs to remove distracting backgrounds and make the photograph more intimate.
80mm and 250mm is better since it is a 3:1 image change rather than a 2:1 image change. I do not do portraits generally, the 150mm lens is my least used lens.
Hasselblads without the electrical winder are smaller and lighter MF cameras. Rollei SLRs have additional features however bodies, lenses, parts and service are much more limited and they cost more than Hasselblads.
There are many threads on this. Do not divide powders. Mix 5 liters, divide it into 1 liter containers and seal tightly. I use air tight bladders and it lasts for years. Test any developer on a film strip before developing film every time you start developing film if a period of time has...
My drug of choice Black & White film is Tri-X at box speed and developed in replenished XTOL. I like the grain. I have no reason to push. For all films including Tri-X, if I want more more shadow detail I use a spot meter on the darkest areas that I want detail and adjust with the Zone System.
I agree with Matt. It may take some practice on your part. One way, the one I used was to take the same photograph in black & white and color to learn how to improve your black & white seeing. The second it to use a brown filter to help visualize what a black & white photograph would look...
Do not use the Nikon F100 back to hammer nails or as a wheel chock when changing tires. Reasonable care should give you years of good service, but then I treat all my cameras and lenses with care.
Some asking for constructive critical comments do not know what questions to ask, hence the video. But part of the problem is asking on internet and getting responses from people who are not qualified to provide useful responses. This can result in being sent in wrong directions.
Oh? Lets take score then. In MF, I have the Hasselblad 503 CX, 30mm Fisheye, 50mm, 80mm, 100mm, 150mm, 250mm, 500mm, Hasselblad 903 SWC plus a Jobo processor and a color and black & white dark room. What do you have?
Have I embarrassed you again? If you start listening to me, your...
Of course if all of you had listened to me ten years ago when I pointed out that the Hasselblad prices then were the steal of two millennia and that all of you should run out and buy MF equipment, you would already have all the MF equipment you ever wanted. All of you blew me off chastising me...
