Put the film in a ZipLok bag, push out as much air as possible, zip and refrigerate. Freezing might cause ice crystals if you have some humidity so I would not recommend that you freeze it.

The spectral sensitivity and spectral density of PORTRA 160NC and 160VC were the same, by design. The same is true of 400NC and 400VC. Portra 800 is close but somewhat different. <== That is my experience and what is published by Kodak because it was designed and formulated that way...
I use stop bath with indicator. It is one of the least expensive photo processing chemicals available to us. If you cannot afford stopbath with indicator, perhaps you should take up knitting, quilting or crocheting.

I echo starting with black & white film developing first. I found XTOL very forgiving and produces very fine grain film. Follow the mixing directions carefully and store in five one liter bottles. Use stop bath with indicator. Use either Ilford Rapid Fixer or Kodak Hypo.
