A proofing alternative for HABS/HAER photography

Hello, As my stash of Fuji Black and white FP-100B dwindles and becomes out of date (2011), I was wondering if anyone had figured a work-around for field-proofing large format views. I am currently using my Fuji X-system digital along side my 5x7 for HABS / HAER work. I spent some time...

    HABS photographers Fuji-Acros vs. Tmax

HABS is done with Photogrammetry and measured drawings as well as 4x5 or 5x7 film. The photographic film views are a part of the overall documentation. The program was started in 1933, before photogrammetry, but today it all works together to create a overall record of the site. -Stephen...

    HABS photographers Fuji-Acros vs. Tmax

Fuji Acros 4x5 is on polyester base Hi all, Thanks for your replies, Fuji Acros is in fact on a Polyester base and it is acceptable by HABS. The photographers at the National Park service had the same problem with the Fuji Staff not knowing their own film but also eventually came to the same...

35mm B&W Kodak High Speed Infrared Film

not all the photos on my FLICKR site are EFKE 820c. some are older HIE Kodak Infrared, and matbe even a Konica 750 IR or two...I used the ilford SFX filter on the EFKE with good results, just VERY SLOW!!! 2 seconds at f8 in bright sun...

    infrared filters

Did I miss the part where the type of film was mentioned? Are we talking Rollei, Efke SFX200 or HIE? All are going to expose differently through cutoff filters depending on their sensitivity... The Efke 820IR I'm shooting at ASA1, and developing in TmaxRS at standard Tmax100 time. 072 filter...

35mm B&W Kodak High Speed Infrared Film

I'm seeing a lot of bricks and single rolls of HIE up on EBAY now. the prices are at a premuim, but we all knew that was going to happen... Try Efke IR 820 if you want a cheaper IR effect, ASA 1 and a 072 cutoff filter, and a tripod. i have samples at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/schafphoto/

New EFKE IR film -- is it Maco?

I have been testing the efke 820c in 120 size and 35mm. At first with a 29 filter which produced nice black and white images but little or no IR effect. I then did some side by side comparisons before HIE dried up to see if it was necessary to stock up. The photos with 820c and an IR cutoff...

    Replacement for Kodak HIE

Efke may look the same but it doesn't SHOOT the same... The Efke 820c in 35mm and 120 gives a remarkably similar IR effect to Kodak's HIE when shot through an 092 or 072 infrared cut-off filter. Even though it has an anti-halation layer, the highlights halate and glow just like HIE when I've...

    I.R in 4x5

I have a box ready to load of the 4x5 Efke, i tried the 35mm and 120 size and eventually got to ASAs around 1/2 and 3/4 or ASA 1 with a +one stop push processing from my normal T-maxRS developer time. I have samples up on my Flickr site that I shot with 29 dark red (little/no IR effect) and with...

    EFKE Infrared 820c Test images

As far as developer for the Efke, I have created an easy way to develop my HIE at my local pro lab that gets me same day processing and is repeatable whenever i teach an infrared photography workshop. I tell the students to go to their lab and have their HIE developed as TMAX 100. Every pro-lab...

    EFKE Infrared 820c Test images

After the news of HIE's demise, I started to test the new batch of EFKE 820c Infrared. The first tests were kind of disappointing... I tried to shoot at normal speeds with a 29 red filter at around 125ASA (TTL metering through the 29 red). The film wasn't really rendering an infrared effect...

    Infrared refocus on Leica RFs?

Sometimes the infrared mark is not red, sometimes it's a diamond, and R, a dot or a curved line on push-pull zooms. The correction point is always away from the infinity mark. In other words, when your lens is at infinity, in order to refocus to IR infinity, you would move the focus ring away...

    Infrared refocus on Leica RFs?

For all you Leica RF - IR shooters... what is the infrared re-focus setting on your lenses. I had a student in one of my IR workshops with a Leica and there were no red (or any) re-focus marks on any of his 3 RF lenses from different eras and Canada and Germany. What are the focusing...

Loading Efke IR820 Infrared Film in Bottom Loading Leica?

I have had no problems with subdued loading of 35mm and 120 efke. The film does have an anti halation layer. I'd try a very dim 15 watt equivalent compact flourescent bulb since they have a much lower IR output than the equivalent tungsten. -schaf
