Hi there, yes the lens was making a sound and trying to focus. Maybe try cleaning the contact points between the lens and your camera before dismantling it. Good luck.
From what I remember I think you need to spring out the winder shaft lock clear of the hollow shaft and the mechanism is just a press fit in so grab that centre pin with pointer pliers and lift it out and unhook the spring. Then remove the other screws and the dial should lift off. But take note...
Hi Søren,
I see it is 10 years to the day since your post. No one replied but I am enquiring if you were able to sort out the Hauck timer? I have just purchased the same timer so any help with instructions would be much appreciated.
Regards
Robin
It looks like the rubber ring slips off the speed dial and there will be screws in the side under that. I just use my thumb pressed down very hard over the shutter button and turn anticlockwise to loosen the screw down washer. See photo
I have tried using the iphone app method but found it confusing to decipher the readout. So I thought what about just using a digital camera through the film camera shutter and comparing the resulting exposures. I also found that this will show up any open or close curtain drag.
My method is to...
I have had more trouble with my silver F2 as the Aperture Arm stopped working. When I had the black F2 dismantled I never took a good photo of that side of the mirror box. It was hard to find one on Google but eventually did on an eBay image that gave me an idea of what the spring looked like...
I purchased a very nice Canon EOS 1N that came with a free lens. The lens has perfectly clear optics but the USM focus motor was making sounds like it was trying to work but clearly was slipping. The manual focus ring was also very loose. So I dived in to see if this was repairable. Turns out it...
Three or so years ago I purchased a Nikon FA from Japan advertised as not going - parts or for display only. At $40 aussie dollars (about $1.50 USD soon) it was worth a shot to see if I could kick it into life. When it arrived in the post I was shocked to find it was like new in the original box...
Hi Fred, Life sounds tough in Italy at present and we are not looking too good here either. I have 3 FE's and with the best looking one I had exactly the problem you describe. When I first purchased it as parts not working, I was able to free it up with some silicon spray and put it on a motor...
To get the Quartz Date back to imprint on the film (if that's your plan) requires a new button 3v battery in the film back. But don't bother. The genius who programmed the software decided to limit the maximum date to 2019. I guess because Canon never figured this camera would still be working...
If you have been reading the news you will know about the exciting prospect of Betelgeuse going supernova anytime soon (within the next 100,000 years) due to it’s sudden dimming. Hopefully Ford Prefect and Zaphod Beeblebrox have already moved on. So are you going to capture those photons that...
