That matches my experience with the 35mm version of SHD400. Definitely try a different camera, but if the scratches/lines vary across rolls it could be the film being delicate during reel loading too. I had a few issues with scratches even with SHD100 in 120 when loading plastic reels because of...
@pentaxuser FWIW, I found both your critiques to be helpful and blunt (which is fine with me). Your future critique on other work, should you choose to share it, will be appreciated.
Yes, it was to emphasize the roof. I'll play around with angles and focal lengths in round 2.
Now that I've had...
It think we're very much aligned in our interests here. Half the struggle for me with this shot was composing it, the other was finding the words to describe why I composed it, and I think you nailed it. Thanks for the feedback! Particularly:
I love how you phrased this. It captures my original...
Thank you all for the feedback here. It's really got me thinking more about how to capture a more interesting photo of the elements that caught my attention when driving by.
It's not, I may have communicated poorly here that I wished it was gone entirely, but that's interesting that you didn't...
Hmm. I hadn't thought of using a shift lens. I happen to have one. I'll have to experiment with it.
I don't have tighter, but I do have further away (rough, straightened edit). I like that this gives more breathing room, but the dead branches along the sidewalk are distracting to me. I do like...
First of all, thank you all very much for taking the time to critique this photo. I will be coming back to this scene in the future because although I enjoyed this photo I am not happy with it (if that makes sense).
The blue is what attracted me as well. I had not considered minimizing the...
Oh! I didn't realize this was a lab scan. That makes sense then that they may not have a profile for Lucky film (my lab's scans of Harman Phoenix are terrible too). If you enjoy the film photography process I highly recommend buying the equipment to scan it yourself so you can control these...
@Pedroga before you invert your negative, are you setting the white point to the transparent base of the film (for example the space between frames) so that the white balance corrects the color mask? The colors in the sky and clouds in my scans looked similar to yours until I learned that...
The light on this abandoned gas station caught my eye, but I feel like there's room for improvement in the composition and would love some critique.
One area I struggled with here was how to position the background clutter. This felt like the best composition for the station (my subject), but...
I believe they have a monthly option. It was the March or May issue from 2023 if I recall, and they strapped a Hasselblad to a big drone (if I’m not mistaken). I really enjoy it and Frames magazine. They’re well produced publications.
Medium Format magazine has a drone photography issue where the photographer talks about how they do fine art drone photography—but with a “real” camera strapped to the drone. Not cheap! Is there a way to rent the Air/Mini Pro 5 drone for a couple of test photo shoots to see if that’s the...
Sometimes I use the transcript browser on the video for that very reason (if it is available). Some creators add useless filler to extend view time which gets on my nerves.
I divided my 1L Ilford DD-X up into 100ml amber glass bottles and capped them off with nearly no air gap. It's still going strong 9 months later. Given the price of DD-X I don't intend to test the limits, but I have already exceeded the 6-month-open threshold that it supposedly stops working...
@BLEX I have never encountered this issue, but I always use a dark/changing bag to load film. If you choose to get one, just be warned that they build up humidity quite quickly which makes it a challenge to load the plastic reels. I switched to metal reels as a result.
How do you feel about video "primers"? I really enjoy Ari Jaaksi's pinhole explainers and demos:
