Steven - what you are seeing is in just a few short years. All that will be left before long will be bits of glass and plastic. Those of us who were a part of AV multi-projector slideshows were the fortunate witnesses of something that was very unique.
This sounds as though the film stock is specific for motion picture which may be based on some different processing parameters and different perforations.
I did, worked on assisted with a few multi-image / multi-projector shows in the past the last one I did was a museum piece - 24 projectors on a ~10x30 foot screen. It traveled to some 30 counties and was viewed by over 1.5M people, this was in the early 1990s. Not dreary street shots either...
