That looks about right. I check by holing it up to the light. You do have to also watch for the very occasional pinholes

At one point I got some pre spooled #10 film from stanley stern. He did it that way, but I was skeptical. Nonetheless I tried it and it works well.

Yeah I've been using plastic from lowes I think- completely opaque. possibly around 5 mil. I'll have to check on that. More later

I've been cutting down spools on the lathe as well. I use black plastic for leader now It works well.

Yeah Light leaks are tough with this camera and home spooling. I've had the same issue. Cutting the leader as accurately as you can helps. What did you do for spools?
