    Photographer's Formulary is Down

It's down for me as well... EDIT: Strangely, stores. photoformulary. com works just fine, but not the root website. Maybe they're performing some updates.

Cinestill 800T - Film Review, images please.

Vision3 films seem to me as the latest and most up to date film technology available. Especially 500T. High sensitivity, supremely accurate colors indoors and very fine grain (for a 500 speed). I only develop in ECN-2 process. I send it to Atlanta Film Company as their development lines also...

what waS your last photography related purchase?

4 rolls of Kentmere 200, 24 exp 5 rolls Kodak Tri-X, 24 exp New plastic lid for Kalt developing tank All from B&H Since when did Tri-X become the lowest priced film, by several dollars?!! (Why 24 exp? You try shooting ~78 photos per roll on an Olympus Pen EE-2!)

Darkroom - prevent oxidation in chemistry

I've had great luck using canned air (Difluroethane, HFC-152a) available cheaply from Costco in 6 packs. Heavier than CO2 or butane. I spray gently into the bottles with the lid on with a slight gap for the nozzle until the pitch stops decreasing, then close it up. I've kept all my developers...

Infinity Focus is not quite right

My experience with infinity focus; I had a similar issue with a just-acquired-from-ebay 35/2 Zuiko -- I have 8 other lenses (<150mm) and infinity stop gives an acceptable (if not exact) sharpness wide open with objects in the distance (mountains, trees). But this 35/2 would not focus on the...

Using vacuum sealer for photo chems

I was just about to comment the same thing - I store spices in small wide-mouth mason jars, and seal them with a vacuum sealer with the jar attachment. Most of the sealers on the market, even the cheap ones, can do this. I can't see why this wouldn't work to seal powders, even liquids without...

    Mistake while bulk loading film

I thought I'd bulk loaded Adox HR-50 wrong when I realized that all of my negatives have numbers are upside down, counting from high to low. I'm guessing they expect a different way to load, or perhaps a mistake on their end? Probably not, but I found it odd.

A new(?) point and shoot autofocus camera

The Minolta STsi p&s has full DX override, even full manual control, manual focus, force or disable flash, etc if you want. Other Maxxum models too. EDIT: Pfft....nevermind this is an SLR, not P&S...next time I'll read the thread title

UPS Battery Backup for Enlarger Power Smoothing

May I suggest a portable "solar generator", or what's really a battery pack. They all produce 120v pure sine wave, from what I've seen on an oscilloscope, much cleaner than utility mains. A 500wh pack can be had for a few hundred bucks new, and would power your enlarger and timer for many...

Kodak-branded chemicals - official news (they are returning)

I was at my local camera store the other day, and it looks like most things are restocked, such as d76, xtol, dektol, fix, etc. most have the photo systems manufactured in USA labels now.

Colour banding in Brother multifunction scan

That's too bad; sorry to hear. You're probably better off with a different brand then.

    ADOX D-76 Question

I've found that Kodak's listed development times for their films are more suited for a Condenser enlarger. I find them more difficult to scan (grass looks white, highlights almost blow). Kodak mentions this on some of their datasheets, and suggests reducing development times by 10%. You may...

    Sold Olympus Stylus 120

Compared to what I see on e-bay, this is a great deal. Especially considering it's well tested. I hope you get a bite soon. ;)

In your opinion, what are the best modern 35mm film SLRs ever built?

In a dark room with the lens cover on, the longest exposure I can get on my late model (2001) Olympus OM4ti is... 2 minutes, 5 seconds. A remote trigger cable with a lock (and a timer like your phone) can extend to indefinite (doing your own exposure calculation though).
