I am going to have to play devil advocate. if you cut out the bridge you gain a center of focus, not subject matter. the photograph would loose its flow, and the incredibly interesting layered look it has with the repetative, yet continually altered, horizontal lines. The underside of the bridge is the ore grounds foil; both containing a rhythmic light and dark. It would destroy the balance of the photograph.
Yes, you would gain a picture of something (namely a crack, a fence, and some shadows) and at the same time the photograph would loose almost all of its aesthetic appeal.
