Trouble With My Rotary Mf, Lf Developing

Both images were rotary processed. Something is obviously wrong. The horizontal image is a 6x7 developed in a Paterson tank with ID-11 1+1 for 11 minutes with 1500 ml of solution. It's pretty typical of the roll, with the undeveloped area typically in a corner, but to a lesser extent throughout the image. I've also noticed this occasionally in 35 mm. It's never happened with intermittent agitation.
The vertical image is a 4x5 developed (rotary again) in a Jobo tank using 2 litres of HC110 dilution H for 9 minutes. I've had this problem to a lesser extent before, but here it's on all of the 8 images that were developed together. I left the centre slot empty on both reels. The film is Foma 200, but this ain't the film's fault!
In both cases the film was loaded correctly - I checked before removing the film. Also, I reverse the rotation about half way through the development and fixing.
I'm obviously doing something very wrong here. I can fix it on the 6x7 by forgetting the rotary bit and just doing intermittent agitation, but can I do that with the Jobo reels or are they designed strictly for rotary processing?
Any other ideas on what me and/or the machine is doing wrong?
The rollers turn Jobo tank (4x5) at 38 rpm, and the Paterson (6x7) at 48 rpm.

1.5 - 2 liters of solution is quite a lot for rotary processing. I wonder if the volume is causing the reel to remain stationary, or nearly so, with the tank rotating around it?
You can use Jobo tanks and reels for inversion processing, you just need the plain lid that has a cap rather than a cog lid as used with a Jobo lift.

Is this affecting the whole roll, or all sheets?

I've never used a Paterson tank, but I didn't think they were for rotary processing. That could be the problem if it doesn't have teeth to make sure the film turns with the tank (The jobo tanks have this on the tank and center column). So maybe you aren't rotating as you think you are.

With only this frame to go on I'm not sure I can even see the problem. But if it's on every frame, and always in the corner I would look towards the camera.

2 liters of chemistry? That is a lot of weight and might damage the Jobo motor. I have not checked the recommended speeds but 48 RPMs seems fast also.

If I am understanding the photo correctly, the problem area is not underdeveloped but overexpsosed. An overexposed bit should be very black on the negative. That is typically a light leak. If it is in the same area of multiple frames then the light leak is in the camera or perhaps the film spool.

Is that the real film border or a computer generated one? Could you have dropped any fixer on the film before developed?

I don't think it's a light leak, because one of the photos has the white area more or less in the middle, and it's not on the same area on each photo. It does tend to be towards the corners, but not the same corner. That is the real border. I'm sure I didn't drop any fixer on the film beforehand. It's not a Jobo motor, it's the rotating mechanism from a Cibachrome outfit someone gave me - this is the only part I use. The camera is a brand spanking new RB67.

I guess it's possible the insides of the Paterson tank aren't rotating. In fact I just checked, and the reels are not held firmly when the lid is on so I'm going to go with that explanation and just forget the rotary mechanism for the Paterson tank. The perils of laziness. I didn't have this problem on the first two rolls, because I developed them individually with intermittent agitation in a small tank that wouldn't fit on the rollers. On this trip I used 3 rolls, which would fit in the larger Paterson which fit on the rotating mechanism.

Thanks for the help guys. I will be able to get the pictures again, if not this year, next. I'm not looking forward to the climb some of the pictures required though.
