Testing BESSA 66 with COLOUR 01

Loaded a 09/2002 dated FUJI NPH 400 into my BESSA 66 to see how the un-coated 'Voigtar' lens behaved and also to see if the LENS HOOD I found cured the 'Flare' problems. I took 6 frames on a cut film. I had 'Flare' on three -- what a shame !

Hi Pete,
I don't want to challenge your expertise, here, but to me, it's looking like light leaks rather lens flare :wondering:
Just my two cents.
Regards,

Raphael

Love the rendering of the lens. The photo of the trash man is excellent. I am with Raphael here. Looks more like light leaks than flare to me.

I put a Torch inside bellows in my Darkroom but could not see any leaks -- bellows seem to be very good condition - I DID wipe a very small amount of Neatsfoot Oil onto it. Today is GROTTY WEATHER ,COLD. High Winds, RAIN so NO 'exercise with Old Cameras' only trip to Doctor to see if he can hurry up my Stoma Reversal Operation as it is depressing me -- good job I have some VERY GOOD FRIENDS here -- fed up with Bowel Cancer stuff !

You can get "flares" from internal reflections. Good luck with your Doctor,

I hear you, @jtk. I would not be surprised if it turned out to be so. I should have added above that my hunch that it was a light leak absolutely did not rule out other nefarious sources of light contamination.

pentaxpete, maybe try taping up the top of the back of the camera with black tape where the door meets the top of the body. That might give you a quick go / no-go on whether the back is leaking. Heck, tape the entire back. Also tape over the red window, if you have one. Just suggestions.

If it is bona fide lens flare then you might be able to see it by taping a piece of ground glass across the film gate and then looking out at the world and some bright light sources from underneath a black cloth with the rear door open.

Hope this helps.

YO !! I Cured the flare -- i was not closing the 'Red Window' and also i have managed to get into rear lens element with a borrowed lens spanner wrench and clean INSIDE the element so Lens is now very Happy and Clean .
