Tea Party

Hello, this is my first post. I am doing a series called "Women with Their Toys" and this is one. It was shot with the Mamiya 645m. Thank you for any critiques. Patsy

Wow, what a great idea for a series. I like the little play on words too. The flesh tones of the human subject are spot on but her little friend is a bit blown out. The shadows cast from the single (?) light are at once dramatic and harsh - perhaps that is your intention. The whole effect of the lighting is...mmmm, somehow incongruous with the scene. Makes me feel like the image is part of a nightmare or something....

thank you both for the critique. I purposefully overlit the doll to add what you call a nightmarish feel(the doll is kind of creepy, isn't it?). Let's face it, the whole idea is rather absurd anyway ;-)

I think its rather strange, and I mean that in a very good way. I like strange and I like the image. I think its perfectly executed. Show us more.

Nothing wrong with exploring and experimenting - not an absurd theme at all - I like the picture and I'd like to see more.

Gee, this is a great site. Thank you for the comments. In the original picture, the details of the table and the doll's chair are more evident but my scanner sucks. Well, there is only so much money to go around and I'd rather spend it on darkroom supplies. Many thanks all and I will try to peruse others' photos soon. Patsy
