I like having just enough of the bush in focus to convey the environment, and the focus point on the sharpest edges of the subject.

I don't know why, but I've loved these types of simple subjects since I began shooting nearly 5 decades ago. I think it drives to the notion of human presence and condition without the presence of humans.

There's something aviopomorphic about it too - it has the shape of a little bird. You can read all kinds of things into it if you want.
