SFX comparison

SFX comparison

Yellow2 Filter on left; IR filter on right shot on Ilford SFX 120. The IR rated at 25asa, Y2 at 200asa and developed for 10mins in Xtol stock solution at 22c.
I was interested to make this back to back comparison to prepare for a trip. Apart from the obvious tonal rendition I noticed the IR version is quite grainy compared to the Y2 and this may not be visible on the web. Both flatbed scanned.

The SFX shot comes out well here in comparison. Looks like plenty of greenery and sky are the ingredients needed for a good IR shot.

What's the cutt off for the SFX filter? I have been shooting the Efke IR820 in 4x5 and using the Hoya 720 nm filter, which gets me to the wonderful ASA of 3.
