This is the rear of Bruin's Slave Jail, a notorious slave dealer prior to the Civil War. Today the building is occupied by a real estate brokers, in a twist of irony. Bruin was the dealer who received the two daughters from the Pearl incident and was planning to sell them into New Orleans brothels.
