Interesting connection between the totem poles (is this the correct word?) and the skyscrapers!
 
There were a number of connections that I saw when taking the picture: visual vertical connection, cultural comparisons, spiritual comparisons and I'm sure there are many others depending upon your background and interests. Photography is a wonderful tool to capture the moment and you can use it to capture a lot of meanings, whatever the photographer is thinking at the moment he activated the shutter. The seagull was not intentionally included. There is ample evidence that they have no respect for anyone.
 
I remember seeing these once, and I couldn't get the shot for one reason or another. Glad you got this.
