mysterylines

i am wondering if ANYONE can tell me what the lines here are from....they are on the negatives and appear as a definite pattern of very light brown lines consistent thru the entire roll of tri X....was it a problem with the film or something i did during the processing??? i have never had this sort of thing before...any thoughts???

1st-I love this print. Awesome.
I have no idea what caused these lines.
Have you processed film from this camera since?

Great print, Marianne! Regardless of the streaks. Perhaps bromide drag? Do you agitate often when you process film, like once per minute or once per 30 seconds? If so, we can rule it out. If you wait 3-5 minutes between agitating, it could be the cause.
Anyway, never mind those lines. This is really beautiful!

vic..i shot another roll after this and processed it the same..no lines on those negs, in fact, the covered jar shots are from the roll shot after this one.....and yes thomas...i do agitate every 30 seconds when i process in a small tank..otherwise, once per minute in a large tank..

Perhaps the film canister had a light leak? If it's consistent enough that could be the case. Hard to believe with Tri-X though, but not even Kodak is perfect. Just another thought.

Maybe surge marks? But if you used the same tank, process and camera I can only venture a guess of : manufacturing defect?

Surge marks: I'm brain dead today so hope this found excerpt helps:

"Uneven development Problems:

1) Film is lighter or underdeveloped along one side . Not enough developer to cover the film in the tank.
2) Negatives have denser areas mirroring the shape of the sprocket holes. Surge marks caused by vigorous agitation causing developer to surge through sprocket holes.
3) Undeveloped patches or patches of film which have been unaffected by any processing solutions. Film incorrectly loaded onto spiral allowing film surfaces to come in contact with each other inhibiting or preventing chemicals from acting on surfaces."

I'm also thinking it could also be a light leak of some sort.

hmmm vic..you may be onto something here...i recall that whilst loading it i had horrible trouble...perhaps that could account for it...i may have had it on the reel cockeyed...i even thru out that particular reel cuz it was so old and i was so mad at it! thanks! ~~marianne

I like the picture anyway. Do you know Dan Goad, the bird artist from Saint Simons Island?
